Better Health Starts Here!

My goal is to help you achieve optimum health and wellness. Having evolved over thousands of years, acupuncture is one of the oldest continually practiced medical modalities in the world. Acupuncture is used to prevent and treat disease, relieve pain, balance mood, enhance athletic performance, increase fertility, and improve overall health and wellness.

Acupuncture is a safe, effective, chemical-free way to promote your body's self-healing abilities.

Modern research has shown that acupuncture is a safe, effective, chemical-free way to promote the body's remarkable self-healing abilities. An acupuncture treatment involves the insertion and manipulation of flexible, hair-thin needles at specific points on the body. Most patients find the sensations produced by acupuncture treatment to be deeply relaxing both mentally and physically.

What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a key component of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that helps the body in healing itself naturally. It has been practiced in China for nearly 3000 years and spread to Japan and Korea around 600 A.D. Around 1600 A.D. acupuncture was brought to Europe, where it has become a popular alternative medication. Acupuncture became popular in the United States in the 1970s and is now used by millions of Americans to relieve chronic pain and other ailments. Recently, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended acupuncture as an alternative method to address the ongoing opioid epidemic caused by prescription pain killers. How does acupuncture work?

Our bodies are sustained by vital energy that the ancient Chinese called Qi, which powers the body in much the same way that gasoline powers our cars. The amount of Qi, and its proper distribution, are vital to our health. When Qi is insufficient or becomes blocked, we are prone to sickness. Acupuncture assists in the rebalancing of Qi. By removing blockages, encouraging the smooth and efficient flow of Qi, acupuncture helps the body correct imbalances. It is an individualized treatment unique to each person. Contact Rivers Mountain if you are interested in learning more about acupuncture or booking an appointment.

Is acupuncture safe?

Yes. The needles, disposable and made of surgical steel, are sterilized. The diameter of the needles is close to that of human hair. Acupuncture has relatively few side effects compared to other treatments. Contact Rivers Mountain if you are interested in learning more about acupuncture or booking an appointment.

Does acupuncture hurt?

Most patients feel nothing, while others detect a slight pinch at the point in which the needle enters the skin. A few may experience a bit of tenderness, while other patients may feel the movement of Qi going through their body. Contact Rivers Mountain if you are interested in learning more about acupuncture or booking an appointment.

What can I expect during a treatment?

Your first visit will consist of a comprehensive briefing of your medical history, including a discussion of your overall health history, concerns, and initial treatment. Subsequent treatments focus on acupuncture treatment. Contact Rivers Mountain if you are interested in learning more about acupuncture or booking an appointment.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments will vary from person to person. Those with chronic medical conditions will typically take longer to treat than those with short term conditions. It depends on the person’s overall health too. A young, healthy person will require less treatments than an older, less healthy person. The treatments can be twice a week, every week and every other week, to monthly. To maintain the healthy flow of Qi quarterly treatment is recommended, much like regular tune-ups with your car. Contact Rivers Mountain if you are interested in learning more about acupuncture or booking an appointment.
